Basic Crocheted Dishcloth

COVID-19 has really thrown our world through a loop hasn't it?

Crochet has helped me get through some pretty tough and stressful shit (figuratively, and probably literally haha), so we decided to bring you this free pattern along with a free Beginning Crochet Class which you can find on our YouTube channel.

Class Objectives:

  • Learn how to chain

  • Learn how to hold your hook and yarn

  • Learn how to read a pattern

  • Learn to single crochet (sc)

  • Learn how to read your work and count your stitches

  • Bonus: learn how to change colors and how to weave in ends

For This Pattern You Will Need:

  • Size I/9 (5.5 mm) crochet hook

  • Worsted Weight (Size 4) yarn

  • Scissors and darning needle


  • Ch: chain

  • Sc: single crochet (US terms)

  • St: stitch


Ch 26

Row 1: Sc in the second ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1 and turn. (25 sts)

Row 2: Sc in each st across. Ch 1 and turn. (25 sts)

Repeat Row 2, changing colors as desired, until work measures 8".

Fasten off and weave in ends.

My Color Striping:

  • 3 rows yellow

  • 1 row white

  • 2 rows yellow

  • 18 rows white

  • 2 rows yellow

  • 1 row white

  • 3 rows yellow
